Nationally-Reknown
Speakers, Teachers, Researchers,
and Exhibitors share ideas and work on mathematics excellence!

The Benjamin Banneker Association would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of the 300 plus participants, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors who helped make our first national conference a tremendous success. In the coming weeks we will post speaker presentations and photos.

Here is What Participants Said...

"I feel that I have learned to connect with my students and their world."

"I want to thank you for providing this opportunity for me to learn about the teaching/learning of mathematics for African American students... A a White teacher with 25 years of teaching mostly white students - now teaching at a school with 25% African American students, I want to learn to help them learn... Spread the word, we need to hear it!"

"This was truly inspirational, talking as an African American educator. I've never been in the environment of so many Black scholars."

"I learned a great deal about new strategies for my classroom."

"I've learned new mathematical strategies, uses of technology in the classroom, and ways to differentiate instruction (depending on my students' learning styles) to share with my colleagues. These will not just help our African American students but all students."

"The Benjamin Banneker Association presented research findings of recent studies of African Americans in the field of mathematics - a long overdue, overlooked area of concern in closing the achievement gap. Keep up the good work and your efforts of reaching back to pass on your finding to assist those that [will be] the major support[ers] of your finding -- the teachers. We want to [be] better. I personally appreciate your showing us how and giving us an arena by which we can achieve."

"The sense of urgency from out presenters. It was awesome."

"I enjoyed the workshops so much! Inspired!"
