FOUR IMPORTANT ITEMS: Attention BBA members (current and past). BBA is turning 25 and we are busy commemorating, celebrating, and rededicating... BBA needS the collective energies and commitment of ITS members, (current- financial) (past -to be renewed) to make our celebration truly signal a milestone in our journey. Take a minute to read the following email that contains 4 items of great importance for BBA.

1. The BBA Nominations and Elections Committee is calling for nominations for the BBA 2012 elections. If you would like to run for one of our board positions, or nominate someone (who accepts your nomination), then download the form attached to this email. We are in need of candidates for President Elect, Secretary - Regional Representatives for West, Southeast, & North Central regions. Nominations are due by February 15 – for active (financial) members only. Once the ballot is ready you will receive more information about the voting procedure. If you would like your ballot mailed to you, please email Dr. Vanessa Cleaver, the chair of our Nomination and Elections committee at Vanessa.cleaver@lrsd.org
2. Please renew your memberships today. Take advantage of the 25th Anniversary membership discount of $25 per year – up to four years. If you want to renew or check on the status of your membership, email Dr. Roni Ellington, our membership chair at: roni.ellington@morgan.edu
3. NCTM 2012 is right around the corner. BBA needs its members and friends to volunteer a few hours of your conference time to assist us in the exhibit hall, in workshops, and at our 25th Anniversary celebration activities. If you can volunteer 2 or more hours with BBA during NCTM 2012 in Philadelphia during the course of the NCTM conference, please download the attachment and email your available hours and contact information to Ms. Mylah Deliford, of our membership committee at: mdeliford@hotmail.com
4. The BBA 25th Anniversary Committee and Program Committee have worked diligently, on our plans for quality 25th Anniversary events at NCTM in Philadelphia 2012. If you will be unable to attend, then please consider taking out an ad for our 25th Anniversary souvenir booklet. Proceeds of the ad booklet will be used to defray the cost of 25 stem-materials grants that BBA will give to 18 students and 7 teachers by April 27.

Anniversary events begin Thursday April 26 at 7 pm, with an Evening Reception and Program, sponsored by ETA and TI, that will pay tribute to BBA’s founders and Philadelphia mathematics teachers. Dress to Impress and consider wearing silver for our 25th Anniversary (though not required). On Friday April 27, at 7 am at the BBA Annual Breakfast, Robert Moses will receive the First Annual Benjamin Banneker Association Mathematics Educator Lifetime Achievement Award. Danny Glover, an active participant and supporter of Robert Moses Algebra Project, has been invited to be the key note speaker.
